Welcome to our whole school Christmas Performance.
This year every Reception child had a line to say in our Nativity play, and with lots of enthusiasm and practice, they all performed exceptionally well and made all at Fellside very proud!
Again Key Stage 1 classes joined together to perform 'Christmas with the Aliens'. Most of Year 2 played aliens who were stranded on Earth and invited to learn about Christmas by the children from Fellside.
Year 3 & 4 joined together to perform 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'. The performance switched between a modern day Grandad's living room on Christmas Day and Bethlehem at the time of Jesus' birth. The performance had rock guitarists, a choir, some lovely singing and some superb acting! The Year 3 and 4 children showed great enthusiasm throughout the performances - a great success!
Year 5 performed a modern day 'Cinderella', the children practised incredibly hard to put on a very entertaining show, filled with beautiful singing, superb acting and a lot of laughs!
Year 6 continued the fairy tale theme and put on an excellent performance of 'Sleeping Beauty'. All the children embraced their roles with mountains of enthusiasm and put on a really spectacular show!
Hope you enjoy the Animoto...
As always we welcome your comments.
It all began when several children pledged to create a healthy tuck shop in their election speeches. Mrs Lamb thought this was an excellent idea so decided to help the children do something about it.
Mrs Lamb contacted 'Fruit to Suit', a company that specializes in healthy snacks for schools, and arranged for Lisa to come in and give us some training.
We thoroughly enjoyed our training day! The children were given jobs from marketing directors to finance managers. We learned how to check an invoice, stock take, make an order, balance a float and most importantly... we sampled the snacks and picked our favourites!
The children then worked very hard to promote the tuck shop. They made posters, wrote letters to the children's families and gave an assembly to all of Key Stage Two.
The big day finally arrived and the first tuck shop took place on Friday 2nd December. All the hard work and preparation paid off and the children are now eager to continue the hard work.
The tuck shop will be open every Wednesday playtime from now on, in the Key Stage Two yard. All snacks are 40p, contain no traces of nuts and are healthy too.
If you would like further information about the company please click on the following link Fruit to Suit
Presenting our ideas to KS2 in our assembly.

Years 5 and 6 held a fabulous street party to celebrate VE day as part of their 'Bombs Away' topic. They invited grandparents to join them for an afternoon of singing, dancing, eating and memories. What a wonderful afternoon it was, the children learned a huge amount by listening to the many stories and tales of childhoods past and sampling the splendid rationing recipes kindly brought in by their families. Many thanks to everyone who came along from near and far!
Please post a comment below of your special memory!

Please note ... 'Bling yer bike day' is Tuesday 29th November not Monday 29th as stated in the letter from Alan Barlow 'Bike it Officer.

Monday 31st October - Friday 4th November was Parliament Week. To celebrate Key Stage Two invited Dave Anderson the MP for Blaydon, into school to talk to us in assembly. Dave told us about his job as an MP (Member of Parliament) and told us what it was like to work in Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. The children listened incredibly well, asked Dave some excellent questions about being a politician, and we all learned a lot. Our School Council is feeling inspired to continue their great work on behalf of the pupils at Fellside after listening to Dave's experiences and advice.

Tracey from 'kids R fit' came to school today and each class took it in turn to have a hoopstar session. Everyone gave it their best shot (including members of staff) and they all had a fantastic time. It was amazing to see how many different activities and games the children could do with a hoop and good music!

Would children from each class please leave a message for Tracey in the comments box below, to let her know which part of the 'hooping' experience you enjoyed the most and if you would like to do it again in the future.
Looks like Mrs Maitland will need to practise a bit more to catch up with one of the children in Year 6! He managed to twirl 4 hoops in one go! If you would like more information about 'kidzRfit' you can click on the following link to visit the website - kidzrfit
Just a reminder, children in Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 start school Tuesday 6th September. For children in Reception and Nursery, please see packs given out at the induction meetings. Thank you.
The weather wasn't in our favour on Monday, however very kind to us on Tuesday and we managed to go ahead with our Sports Day. Starting with the Nursery Sprint Race we then continued with the rest of the school taking part in Relay Race, Egg & Spoon Race, Basketball Shoot, Standing Long Jump and other sporting events.
Everyone participated with great effort, determination and enthusiasum wanting their team to win. This year the result was so close, the winning and second team were divided by only one point. The Yellow team won followed by red then close behind was the green and blue team.
A great day was had by all, thank you to everyone who came to support our Annual Sports Day.
Sports day cancelled today. Will go ahead Tuesday 1.30pm.
We are going to go ahead today with sports day 1.30pm.
Some of our Key Stage 2 children recently participated in the Gateshead Athletics Festival at Gateshead International Stadium. The children competed in many different events, including sprinting, jumping, throwing and relays. They represented Fellside brilliantly with their behaviour and attitude and managed to win several medals! Well done to everyone who took part - it was a great day!
Well done to our Year 3 tennis team who recently competed in the Tyne and Wear Grand Final at Sunderland Tennis Centre. The team qualified for the Grand Final after winning two previous tournaments. They performed superbly at the Final to finish in 6th place overall - a fantastic team effort! The children enjoyed playing singles matches and working as a team to complete the tennis challenges. Well done everyone!
Our Year 6 took part in the Tag 2 Twickenham National Rugby Finals on Wednesdasy 13th July in Warwickshire.
A huge thank you to PJP Sports, in Whickham, RFU at Gateshead / Whickham School Sport Partnership at Whickham School. Also to Mr Machin, Mrs Nevin and Miss Knox for all their help. Finally well done to all who took part.
What a performance, what a show... the sound of sweet music drifted through the school. We had solo performances to an orchestral finale, with harmonious performances in between. Every child played and sang with ease and confidence to a delightful audience.
At times the concert brought a tear to the eye, especially when one of our Nursery children played the violin.
Thank you and well done to all who performed, and to all who came and supported.
Well done to everyone who took part in the Kensho Karate Club competition today at Whickham School. All competitors represented our school incredibly well, the success of every child who took part throughout the day has meant that Fellside has once again won the trophy and come first in the competition. If anyone has photographs from the day, we would love to have a copy for school.

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,

Rhys, Matthew, Caitlyn, Ben & Harry,
Happy Birthday to you!
Hope you all have a lovely day.
Thankfully the weather was kinder this weekend than last and the Pedalling Picnic took place this morning. With about 60 riders in total, it was another super event, well done to all families who came along. It was wonderful to see children from Nursery to Year 6 cycling together. Thank you to Alan Barlow and Gary Haley for organising this event.
Alan Barlow our 'Bike It Officer' arranged for Ben Slinger & Danny Butler from the Mad Cycle Stunt Team to perform at our school. Enjoy the Animoto of the dedicated and talented twosome, as they perform their outstanding bike stunts.
What was your favourite stunt ? Leave a comment and let us know.

Apologies, cancelled today, taking place Saturday 25th June.
Year 6 took part in an all day cricket event at the Glebe Cricket Ground in Whickham on Tuesday 7th June.
Teams from Rowlands Gill, Winlaton, Whickham and other areas took part in a knock out competion. As usual the children gave 100%, all played extremely well, and even though some of the games were very difficult, they continued to work hard to get good results.
However, as usual, due to our rather predictable weather, rain stopped play. The head coach decided that the team with the overall highest score would be the winning team. After the challenging and highly competitive games, it was great news to hear that one of our Fellside teams had won. Fellside are now through to the next round on Wednesday 22nd June. More details to follow.
Well done and good luck for the next round !

We wish them luck on the walk and if you would like to leave a comment please do so in the box below.

We are all really proud of our rugby team who played today in the 'National Tag to Twickenham Rugby' regional finals at Kingston Park Rugby Club. Our school came second, out of over 900 Northern schools who originally entered which means they now qualify to go on to the National finals which will be held on 13th July 2011 at Rugby School in Warwickshire. As usual their performance was exceptional, they showed great sportsmanship and passion. As always they were a credit to our school. Thanks to Mr Machin and Mrs Nevin for their assistance today. Please show your support to the team by leaving them a good luck message in the comments box below.
Further details will be issued nearer the date.

Happy Birthday to you!

On Thursday 14th April we came to school dressed in the royal colours for an early celebration of the wedding between William & Kate. At assembly time we sang The Royal Anthem, and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the yard. Luckily the weather stayed fine and we all had a wonderful wedding party.
When William & Kate look at our website they will certainly be impressed to see possibly the first of their wedding celebrations.
Hope you enjoyed the photographs of our Royal Wedding Picnic. We look forward to your comments, especially from William and Kate.
On Tuesday 5th April, pupils from Year 6 went to Parochial's school to play the final round of their East League fixtures. If Fellside won every game they would win the whole tournament, then going on to face the winner of the West League. In their first match they beat Parochial 2-0 with Dan Hand scoring a tap in after a brilliant pass from fellow striker Harry Sharpe. This turned out to be the fastest goal of the tournament - only 18 seconds! Fellside then comfortably won their next four games. In the final and deciding match of the tournament, it was Fellside against arch enemys - Front Street. It was deadlock until Alistair Thom scored a wonder goal (which was from his own half) that soared over everyone and ended up in the back of the net! Fellside had won! We now go on to face the winner of the West League. I would like to thank, on behalf of the successful team, Mr.Machin for taking us in his own time.
By Dan Hand, Year 6
On Wednesday 6th April pupils from Year 6 took part in the Durham County 5-a-side finals in Darlington. All of the boys played excellently and made super progress since last time and finished 3rd. We were rewarded with the prized Durham County medals. We had a great time and I would like to say thank you to Mr. Mordue and Mr.Machin for taking us.
By Dan Hand (Year 6)

Happy Birthday to you!
Hope you all have a lovely day.
On Friday the 1st of April, 14 pupils from Year 6 went to Madien Castle in Durham to represent Gateshead in the tag rugby Durham County Finals. We did brilliantly and finished 2nd overall. However, out of all of the qualifiers we'd won we finished 2nd out of a whopping 413 teams! We now go on to play at the North East finals played at the Newcastle Falcons stadium, Kingston Park. On behalf of all my team I would like to thank everyone who was involved in organising it.
By Dan Hand, Year 6

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday to you!
Hope you all have a lovely day.
On Wednesday 23rd March, our Year 6 netball team took part in the Gateshead Finals at Heworth Grange School. Despite not having had much match practice, the team put in a huge effort and only missed out on a place in the semi-finals in a penalty shoot-out! The team represented the school superbly with their attitude and sporting behaviour - well done!
Doors opened at 8 o'clock, it wasn't long before bikes were parked up, and everyone inside having a healthy Bike it breakfast. Well done to everyone taking part in the Big Pedal. Watch the website for the final race position.
What did you have for your Bike it breakfast?
Please leave a comment if you enjoyed the 'Big Pedal Challenge' also your bike it breakfast.
Who did you see, and what were they wearing red?
Welcome to Front Street Primary School... Not really it's Fellside celebrating RED NOSE DAY 2011. A letter was sent to parents by a pupil in Year 6 to support Red Nose Day. The children and staff could wear something red for a donation of £1. As you can see, the response was fabulous.
Please leave a comment if you enjoyed our Red Nose Day.
Don't forget to cycle to school as much as possible over the next three weeks to meet the Big Pedal challenge. Click on the following link for the website The Big Pedal Challenge
It was a cold, damp, foggy, miserable day today!
Infact it was so good, we did it all over again with the afternoon children and parents, and yes, the weather was still cold, damp, foggy and miserable!!
Some of the money raised from the sponsored Toddle will be used to pay towards a surprise in Nursery after Easter. Well done to all who took part and a huge thank you for your kind support.
Tuesday 15th March Year 3 took part in the Gateshead Schools 2011 Dance Festival. They performed a dance called MOVE IT! which represented the 2012 Olympics. The whole school was lucky enough to see their final rehearsal, and wish them luck before they left for the big show. Please enjoy the photos and video of their brilliant 'trial' performance.
Don't forget to leave a comment if you enjoyed watching the video, or even better, if you performed in it! Also Year 3, please let us know what it was like infront of a huge audience at the Sage.
Last night our Year 6 football team took part in the latest round of league fixtures, which were hosted here at Fellside. The team played extremely well - only losing 1 out of 7 matches, scoring plenty of goals while not conceding many! This keeps Fellside within the top two places of the league as we enter our last round of fixtures in April. Well done everyone!
Home at last, both safe and sound after their incredible journey. Well done to John Baines and his fearless companion Sock Monkey, for their heroic challenge (nearly as tough as the challenges year 6 faced at Robinwood) to raise money for the charity COCO. Sock Monkey was so brave throughout the journey, wasn't at all fazed by the altitude, however a little camera shy at the summit. John will be in school soon to talk to the children about his mission, his visit to the school in Londoto and how the money raised will help the children.
CONGRATULATIONS! WHAT A GREAT TEAM! WHAT A GOOD CAUSE!
You can click on the following link to see the amount raised so far for COCO.

Last night our Fellside 5-a-side football team took part in the regional finals at Consett Leisure Centre. We represented Gateshead after winning the local finals last month and played against teams from Sunderland, Washington and Consett. The players, inspired by a good luck message from Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini, were superb and managed to win two out of their three games to qualify for the county finals next month! Again, the attitude and sportsmanship shown by the team was excellent and we wish them the best of luck next month - details to follow shortly!

Hi everyone,
We're off up the Baranca wall into the glacial area today - that's the picture.
Sock Monkey is in good form and hasn't had any symptoms of altitude sickness. I have some photos of him on my camera; he has met a friendly toy bunny too! Well, must dash and climb the wall! It is a series of volcanic flows and boulders!
Hope to have a signal when I get to camp and will have more time to write.
See you all soon.

Hi all,
Its 2pm local time and we're at one of COCO's community projects in Moshi. This project works with local 'Mama's' (women) who run this nursery school for pre 7 year old to give them basic education and life skills. The Project is called Uwawayaki womens project and the majority of the children are orphans.

Fellside's 5-a-side football team took part in the Gateshead Finals on Wednesday at Gateshead Leisure Centre. They competed against the three other winning teams from the previous tournaments. Fellside managed to win every game therefore won the competition and will represent Gateshead at the Regional Finals in March - a fantastic achievement! Wel done to our brilliant team of Year 6 footballers who showed an exemplary attitude once again. Good luck for the Finals!

Friday....Home, having completed 1008.9 miles arriving at John O'Groats at 1335 yesterday
I'll update on Day 13 Wednesday and my final day Thursday -
Day 13 Wednesday.
Out to dinner Tuesday night with Pete at neighbouring big house with wonderful host in her eighties who cooked for and entertained nearly 20 guests for dinner (me being the only one in tracksuit, T-shirt and crocks). 25+ lobsters piled on the vast dining table will give you something of an idea of the scale and quality. Wonderful hospitality.
Violent winds with wintery feeling squalls on Wednesday, with similar forecast for Thursday. As we were heading north to fish it made sense to get a few miles of progress on the bike in such challenging, and frankly dangerous (big fish and logging trucks on the A9) conditions. So did 19 miles before Pete caught me up. Climbed the Ord of Caithness and Berriedale Braes, battling into a wind so strong at times that on a relatively flat section one gust had me standing on the pedals in bottom gear to maintain 2 mph.
Anyway we chucked the bike in the back of Pete's car donned waders etc and went fly fishing. River level rising rapidly and water increasingly coloured so not ideal. No luck for me as a novice but an 8lb salmon landed by Pete. Abandoned fishing as river became unfishable and had lunch in hut, designed for such purposes on the river. A fabulous and different day.
Day 14 Thursday. The final day
Up early and really keen to get cracking on the final short leg of 38 miles to J O'G. Strong headwind with vicious and frequent squalls. Jacky and Nige dropped me and the fully laden bike off where I'd stopped Wed. 35 of the miles into gale force and rising wind. At 1000 miles Fellside sock monkey (my companion throughout) and I celebrated with a lollypop! Cresting a hill on the single track minor route taken, the Orkneys were in view, briefly illuminated across a boiling
Final thoughts.
I feel, and presumably am very strong after cycling 8 hrs a day for a couple of weeks; to the point that propulsion of the bike wasn't a problem. Wind and hills became just part of the ride, not a chore. I've enjoyed the whole experience of seeing our country unfold slowly around me. Such a variety of topography, dialect, building styles. From Devon to
I'd recommend this to any reasonably fit cyclist who can afford to take a couple of weeks maximum. Thanks so much for all the messages of encouragement and generous donations. Apologies if I haven't responded since Monday when my phone died in the rain.
Day 1 Friday Sept 3rd
Warm but windy, unfavourably so. Given wind and countless climbs, some on the limit for gears and my legs, I'm pleased to have 75 miles under the belt. Didn't get away from Lands End until 1100. Aiming for Taunton area tomorrow.
Day 2 Saturday
90 miles in hilly and pretty Devon to Wellington near Taunton. There must scarcely be a 100 yards of flat land in Devon, a real test. All prepared to camp out for the night as couldn't find accommodation. Just before dark found classic hotel of the English genre.
Day 3 Sunday
86 miles to Tintern just north of Chepstow. Easier day but wet for the most part. Somerset Levels ... level of course. Cheddar for lunch and unbelievably no cheese. Tricky navigating round Bristol to Severn bridge and am now in nice accommodation with pub across the road. Heading north tomorrow and feel like I have turned the corner. Photo taken at 17.15 on Severn Bridge.
Day 4 Monday 6th Sept
87miles to Bishops Castle Shropshire. Stayed ahead of the rain until last 5 miles. Wind favourable for most part. Beautiful ride throughout the day. Wye Valley then Golden Valley. Finally the quiet rolling hills of Shropshire. All very Edward Elgar. Fell off bike outside this B&B...forgot to unclip from pedals! Must take more care. Lucky not to break something on me or bike. North towards Lancashire tomorrow.
Thanks for all support. Kevin
Day 5 Tuesday 7th
Day 5 shorter day today 68 miles to Chester to stay with Colin with whom I shared a room at college back in 71. He's in good form.
A stop and go day with torrential thundery showers and warm sunshine. Tricky route finding on narrow roads. 419 miles in total. Aim to be through Lancashire tomorrow.
Day 6 Wednesday 8th
107 miles to S Lakes.
It's grim up north...not yesterday it wasn't with cloudless windless warm conditions. Working through Merseyside and s Lancashire is a challenge but helpful open people all the way. It seems true that northern folk are more friendly, excluding my Devon relatives of course! Slept under stars on a river level monitoring device. Thanks sincerely for all the encouraging messages.
Day 7 Thursday 9th
62 miles to Gretna, Scotland!! Delay to fix broken spoke in rear wheel and have wheel trued in excellent bike shop Ambleside. Road kill update... badgers 9, rats 2, grey squirrel 6, rabbits galore, fox 1, snakes 3, hedgehogs' lots... And no I haven't eaten any! Kevin.
Day 8 Friday
Stayed Thursday night with friends and family (Jacky & Jo). Left Gretna in rain for 30 miles then bright. Lovely route on deserted road through S Uplands. Long attractive descent to v poor area of S Ayrshire. No chance of B&B so slept out under a million stars which at 0300 became a million raindrops. A bit wet! Did 78 miles in the day. On ferry to Arran as I type this. Then ferry to Kintyre and up to Lochgilphead to meet 3 Fellside dads for drink and ride tomorrow. All is good. Kevin
Day 9 Saturday
Now in 'real' Scotland. On to Arran and off again after just 2 hours. Enough time to determine it's worth returning (on the tandem Jacky) with quiet roads and lots of cyclists. 68 miles on the road plus 2 ferry crossings to meet up with Fellside dads John & Ged in Lochgilphead. They're joining me for Sun morning on road to Oban.
Day 10 Sunday
76 miles to wet Ballachulish. 12 miles SW of Fort William. First 40 miles with John and Ged to Oban in ok weather. 40 miles back for them and a long drive. Thanks chaps. Good part of route from Oban on superb, new this year, cycle track. Great to be in Highland Scotland even in rain. Exactly 800 miles done. All is good.
Day 11 Monday
80 miles to Inverness in indescribably wet conditions for the first half of the journey, normal wet for the second. Massive climb out of Fort Augustus to escape logging trucks and buses on the A82. Could finish this trip in the next 2 days but as welcoming party can't arrive till Thursday will probably spend all day Wednesday with Pete Daniels near Brora and finish the trip on Thursday. I am fine and enjoying every bit of it. Kevin
Day 12 Tuesday
69 miles from Inverness to Pete's house just north of Brora. 950 miles total since Lands End. Route is shorter than I had anticipated at about 1010 miles. Vicious squalls today with a wintry feel. Impossible to ride over the Kessock Bridge. Delayed by broken spoke on Cromarty Bridge. Borrowed some tools from a recovery man in a caravan. Replaced the spoke, trued the wheel and back on the road in an hour. Gary the breakdown guy was so helpful and even donated £5 for Macmillan. I have seen only the best of people on this trip. Out for dinner tonight at neighbouring big house with Pete. Strong northerly winds forecast for the next few days so it will be a tough end to the ride. All is well. Kevin.
Before the summer holidays children from Year 5 and Year 6 competed in a number of sporting events.
Click on the links below to see the photographs.
Well done to everyone who competed in the football, hockey and athletics.
A fantastic result in all events.
We would love you to leave a comment and congratulate them on their success.
oh what a night...
Thank you....
To everyone who made contributions to the Year 6 Enterprise Projects. They have made a staggering £1175.26 profit, a school record! The end of term party will certainly be one to remember!
Design Technology Challenge 2010 .... Dens!
Over the years we have set a variety of challenges - building bridges, chairs, scarecrows and wind-powered devices. This year, as I'm sure you'd expect, something different - dens!
One only has to glance over the fence at anytime to see a variety of 'dens' made from seasonally available materials - leaves, sticks, snow and currently grass clippings. Every child in school (and most adults!) expressed enthusiasm for den building by inviting real den construction in our grounds which will be opened specially for this challenge after school week beginning 21st June (Monday to Thursday) and on Saturday 26th June.
Immediately after half term we will provide more details for this exciting challenge.
Bike it Breakfast, Pedalling Picnic
Last Monday more than sixty children and adults came to school early for 'Bike it Breakfast' with Alan Barlow. Alan carried out some routine maintenance on bikes during the morning. All thirty Year Six children had an afternoon of fun on bikes including team pursuit races, slow bike race and a tricky mountain bike race round the perimeter of the school field.
This year's Pedalling Picnic (the ninth) is on the morning of Saturday 19th June.
Once again there'll be the choice of two routes - the longer route from Shotley Bridge (11 miles of largely gentle down slope) meeting those on the shorter route (through Derwenthaugh Park approximately 3 miles) before a picnic at the Green at Swalwell.
Details after the half term break.
This year we can access a 20 bike trailer from Sustrans which could be of use for transporting bikes to Shotley Bridge. If you have a tow bar fitted to a suitable car and wish to help with transporting bikes please contact school.
The bike raffle was a huge success raising £185 for our school fund. The bike was
won by Larissa Tait in Year 3. Well Done.

Over the last few weeks Year 6 have been planning, researching and developing ideas for their enterprise projects this year. They have had some fantastic expertise and guidance from Louise Levy, a governor and parent, and Mike Wood from Gardiner Richardson. They have been guided through the process of developing ideas, teamwork, planning, marketing and advertising. They are hoping to make a substantial profit this year to pay for their end of year party. Watch this space for more details.
Merry Christmas to all and a peaceful New Year.
We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when....
Years 5 and 6 held their first ever street party to celebrate VE day and the end of their 'Bombs Away' topic. They invited grandparents and great grandparents to join them for an afternoon of singing, dancing, eating and memories. What a wonderful afternoon it was, the children learned a huge amount by listening to the many stories and tales of childhoods past. Many thanks to everyone who came along from near and far!
What a superb turnout on Saturday 13th June with at least eighty children and adults taking part in our ninth Pedalling Picnic. With a choice of two rides of four or ten miles the majority of children took the longer option and of those on the shorter route (still four miles!) most were in their first year of cycling.
Long route or short, it's clear that the impact of training through our involvement in the Bike it scheme has greatly improve confidence and competence on bikes.
A memorable morning and the best attended to date. The weather was kind too. Thanks to all who took part and particular thanks to Gary Haley for his organisation of yet another successful event.
Our children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the Athletics Festival at Gateshead Stadium on Friday 27th June. Girls and boys from the school claimed a bumper crop of medals, including five gold and four silver. A fantastic time was had by all and many thanks go to Mrs Bowren and Mrs Potts for all their support on the day.

On Saturday 14th June around 60 children and parents took part in our annual Pedalling Picnic (the eighth event).
The majority of participants opted for the long ride - 10 miles from Consett to Swalwell - riding at a cracking pace (for children as young as 5) to reach Swalwell in just over an hour.
The sun shone for the picnic element of this enjoyable event.
Thanks to all who took part and particularly to Gary Haley for his work on the organisation of what has become a traditional summer event at Fellside.
Anyone for breakfast?
Today saw the first ever bring your bike and have your breakfast event! There were over forty children and parents who cycled to school and then enjoyed fresh juice, croissants, toast and time to chat with friends. Many thanks to James, our Bike-It officer, who organised and ran the event. Watch out for more activities during Bike-It Week, week beginning Monday 16th June.
This year’s technology challenge was to design and make something that would harness the power of the wind. What a spectacular array and assortment of machines, devices and turbines there were! Well done to everyone who entered, the standard was extremely high. Congratulations to the winners Olivia, Charlotte, Luke and Ellen.
Take a look at some in action!

On Friday 22nd June children from Years 3 to 6 travelled to Gateshead International Stadium to take part in this years Gateshead Primary Schools Athletics Festival.
Everyone competed brilliantly and a good day was had by all, the journey home was accompanied by the tinkling of the various medals won, from bronze through to gold.
