Story openings

In Year 4 we have been looking at story structure. We discussed openings and thought about how they needed to catch the readers interest.
We decided that our opening paragraph would introduce the setting of the story.

Here are a few examples of their opening paragraphs on the setting of an alien planet.

Welcome to Year Four

It is a real pleasure to welcome your child into my class. I am delighted at how quickly the class, no longer the youngest in KS2, have settled into a good hardworking mode. I am sure this will continue.

During Y4 they will be taught a cursive style of writing which they should be fully using by next July.

I am looking forward to a productive year, which will see your child making very good progress.
