On a chilly Tuesday morning, the children of Year One made their way to SpoorMethodistChurch for a very special wedding. Their friends were going to be married!
After changing into their special costumes, the children got to their places. The ushers gave out service sheets and showed the guests to their places. The groom and his best man waited nervously near the front. When Mrs Ducker began to play the organ all assembled got to their feet to see the beautiful bride and her handsome father walking down the aisle followed by the five pretty bridesmaids. Readers read out poems about love and marriage, the congregation sang and all fell silent as the bride and groom made their important vows. The best man gave Rev. Liz the wedding rings and they were placed on fingers. Everyone clapped for the happy couple.
Then Year One posed for photographs and there were relieved smiles on everyone's faces.Rev. Liz congratulated the bride and groom for saying their promises so clearly and for the splendid behaviour of the whole class. Waving goodbye to Rev. Liz the children made their way back to school now looking forward to the Reception party.
Year One would like to say thank you to everyone who came to the church to share their wedding day, those who organised the wedding outfits and especially to those mums who accompanied them to and from the church. A big THANK YOU also to Rev. Liz for conducting the service and to Mrs Ducker who played the music in the church.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, two of our children came to school dressed in very smart traditional Chinese costumes.
Parents came in to our class to help us make paper Dragons, Lucky red money envelopes and paper Lanterns. We all had a go at Chinese writing, which is even harder than writing in English!

And for those who don't understand Chinese writing... On Monday 23rd January 2012, we celebrated Chinese New Year in Nursery. We cooked Chinese Noodles with peas, spring onions and sweetcorn. PS. Before our special recipe for Ooodles of Noodles is available in the local Chinese Take Away, you can have a copy from Nursery, but hurry there are only 1,000,000 copies!

We dressed up in traditional Chinese outfits.

As part as our work on our exciting new topic 'The terrible Tudors'and'Henry's Harem' wewere joined in school by Matt from a company called 'Play in a day'.
Matt worked with our class to learn, practise and perform a whole play on life in Tudor England. Not only were the children able to practise and perfect their acting skills, but we also learnt lots of historical facts and has plenty of laughs along the way!
At the end of the day, Parents were invited to watch our final performance, and it's safe to say they were as impressed as the staff at how professional the play was.
The hard work the children put in was evident in their confident performance. Year 5 loved their day of acting, and they are all very enthusiastic to learn more about the Tudors in the rest of our topic. As always we welcome your comments in the comments box below.

Welcome to our whole school Christmas Performance.
This year every Reception child had a line to say in our Nativity play, and with lots of enthusiasm and practice, they all performed exceptionally well and made all at Fellside very proud!
Again Key Stage 1 classes joined together to perform 'Christmas with theAliens'. Most of Year 2 played aliens who were stranded on Earth and invited to learn about Christmas by the children from Fellside.
Year 3 & 4 joined together to perform 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'. The performance switched between a modern day Grandad's living room on Christmas Day and Bethlehem at the time of Jesus' birth. The performance had rock guitarists, a choir, some lovely singing and some superb acting! The Year 3 and 4 children showed great enthusiasm throughout the performances - a great success!
Year 5 performed a modern day 'Cinderella', the children practised incredibly hard to put on a very entertaining show, filled with beautiful singing, superb acting and a lot of laughs!
Year 6 continued the fairy tale theme and put on an excellent performance of 'Sleeping Beauty'. All the children embraced their roles with mountains of enthusiasm and put on a really spectacular show!

On Tuesday 13th December, groups of Year One pupils assembled Christingles. Christingles are made up of different parts, each one being there to remind us of something. The orange represents the world and the candle is to remind us of Jesus because Christians believe Jesus to be the light of the world. The red ribbon goes all round the 'world' and reminds Christians that Jesus died because it represents the blood of Jesus. The four cocktail sticks could stand for either: the four seasons or the four corners of the world. The sweets (or sometimes dried fruit) is to remind us of God's gifts to the world including kindness and love. Year Two joined them for some singing as the candles were lit up. It was a magical moment!
