School Discipline and Behaviour Policy

The school aims:-

To create a positive ethos within the school based on a sense of community and shared values.

To promote high standards of behaviour among staff, pupils and parents.

To encourage staff to recognise and praise good behaviour.

To make distinctions between minor and more serious misbehaviour and respond accordingly.

To use personal and social education as a means of promoting mutual respect, self discipline and social responsibility.

It is a strength of the school that all staff take corporate responsibility for ensuring that pupils behave in a desirable manner and that when necessary are reminded of this with a non confrontational approach.

Inclusion Policy

All children have a right to be educated with their peer group. At Fellside Community Primary School, we are fully committed to promoting inclusion of all children, whatever their age, ability, gender, race or background. We believe that the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of every child in the school is important.

We aim to provide equal opportunities for all groups of children, including those with diverse needs. Our main objective is to safeguard the interests of all children and to ensure they achieve their full potential. All children should have the opportunity to join with their peers in the curriculum and life of the school. We aim to pay particular attention to the provision for, and the achievement of, ‘different groups’ within the school, providing extra resources and support, where possible.

At our school, we are fully committed to inclusion; however, we are aware that in exceptional circumstances, the needs of the individual child might not be met or that the inclusion of the child in mainstream education "is incompatible with the efficient education of other children." (SEN Code of Practice. DFES 2001)

Homework Policy

Homework set will be of clear value to the pupil. It will take into account the pupil’s age and ability. We are aware that most pupils in this school will have the support of interested parents / carers, but not all.

Educational Visits Policy

Well planned and executed educational visits provide our pupils with valuable experiences which enhance their learning at school. Providing a variety of ‘real-life’ opportunities for our children enables them to achieve a fuller understanding of the world around them through direct experience. Educational visits are an essential element of good primary practice.
