Throughout this term we are thinking carefully about rivers in our 'Amazing Amazon and Terrific Tyne' topic.
As part of our research we had the opportunity to enjoy an educational cruise down the River Tyne.
We braved the elements and stood out on deck to take in the impressive views, as a commentator talked us through features of rivers as well as the history of the area. We were even lucky enough to have the Millenium Bridge opened especially for us!
Unfortunately, the clear skies didn't hold out on our return journey. As we turned around in Tynemouth to head back to the Quayside the heavens opened! We didn't mind as it allowed us to make the most of the cosy inside cabin. We didn't let the rain dampen our spirits, however, as we tested our knowledge with a Tyne quiz. Six lucky winners got to see inside the Captain's cabin and even had a go at driving the boat!
We are all looking forward to putting our knowledge to good use in the rest of our topic work!
