Last week members of our school council visited Gateshead Civic Centre to learn about how our Local Authority operates. The children enjoyed sitting in the Council Chamber while local ward councillors answered our questions and told us about their civic duties. We also felt very important when we met and interviewed the Lord Mayor, Councillor John Eagle, in the Mayor's Parlour and watched the opening of a full Council meeting. It was a fabulous and informative day!
