On Friday 12th September, twenty of our top cyclists accompanied by ten adults cycled to Gateshead's Baltic Square to watch 90 of the world's top cyclists finish stage 6 of the Tour of Britain.
It rained of course... but that did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of our cyclists among the crowds there to watch the finish.
Of course it's one thing leaving Whickham by bike, quite the opposite on the return journey. All children did extremely well tackling the climb from the river to the top of Duckpool Lane.
There were a few schools present at this event. Of course there was only one school to have cycled there! Many thanks to the parents (and grandparent) who helped make this journey possible and Simon Arbon for the photographs.
We try out a bicycle-powered smoothie maker!
Alan Barlow, our Bike-It Officer, was there to greet us.
