Fellside will celebrate it's 40th Birthday on 5th June 2007. There will be a number of events organised on or around this day to mark this auspicious occasion - watch this space for details.
If anyone has photographs or memorabilia of past events that they would be prepared to share with us they would be warmly welcomed. Please contact Mr Doran or any of the committee members of Friends of Fellside.

I was at Fellside Junior School from 1968-72. Great school, good teachers, fond memories generally, although bullying still existed back then too. I remember Mr. Barnes, Mrs. Armstrong, Miss Wyllie and Mr. Marsh. Free milk (frozen in winter, warm in summer, in little 1/3 pint bottles), Boys Brigade in the school hall. We had a really rubbish football team, if I remember correctly. Assembly at the beginning and end of school (We sang "The day thou gavest Lord has ended" every afternoon it seemed - probably would be banned now I suppose). Good luck with your celebrations.

In the early 1980's I was a young teacher learning to get to grips with the introduction of computers into school. Myself and other teachers met up at Fellside school and brought along our computers to work together and share what we had found out The Whickham Schools Computer Users Group. Programs were read by cassette tapes, the memory of the computers were 16k and 32K but could be extended to 64k and if really cool 128k.
Many teachers from surrounding schools learned how to teach using computers by attending those sessions.
Best of luck with your celebrations.
