Fair Trade for Fellside

Children from Year 5 have been involved in an event aimed at encouraging Fair Trade products. Players from the Newcastle Falcons also attended the event, much to the delight of the children.

One child has written a report to explain exactly what happened.

First of all, Year 5 School Councillors travelled to St. Peters School. When we got there, we put on Fair Trade t-shirts and then read out message cards about Fair Trade. We had to read them out to the whole of St. Peters School! When we had finished, we went up to the rugby players and they awarded every school a certificate and signed everyone's t-shirts.

Afterwards, we went outside to play rugby. We played bulldog and one of us won (out of 45 other children)! Finally, we returned to school with our certificate, signed t-shirts and some Fair Trade biscuits for the teachers.

The framed certificate is now available to see in school and, needless to say, the biscuits were very much appreciated in the staffroom!

Many thanks go to Gary Haley, School Governor, for arranging and escorting the children to this worthwhile event.
